Responding to Flu Pandemics: The Challenge – Monday 31st Jan 7pm

Join us at Chambers Coffee House, 34 South Tay St for our first Cafe Science Dundee event of 2011.

So what was all that flu pandemic about ? Was there really a global healthcare threat or was it just media hype and a ploy by the big pharmaceuticals to make lots of money ? Dale Curless from GlaxoSmithKline will be joining us with his talk entitled ‘Responding to Flu Pandemics – The Challenge’  to answer these questions, and any others you might have.

Find out the challenges facing governments, healthcare organisations and pharmaceutical companies like GlaxoSmithkline in preparing for the uncertainties of a flu pandemic, and what it meant for the staff of a local GSK site in responding to the bird flu in 2006 and the swine flu in 2009.

This is a FREE Event and everyone is welcome. The award winning Chambers Coffee House and Restaurant will be open before the talk for snacks and drinks, see their website for more information.

This talk is part of our brand new fourth season of Cafe Science Dundee! You can view the whole programme of Cafe Science and Cafe Science Extra talks here.

We have a range of topics and excellent speakers lined up for this season, we hope to see you at a Cafe Science soon!
